Military - Kaplan University: Overview

Originally known as Kaplan College, Quest College, and American Institute of Commerce (AIC), Kaplan University was founded in 1937. The institution offers degrees in many different areas of concentration, some of which include criminal justice, healthcare, nursing, business, information technology, and education. The degree levels available through Kaplan University include associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees. Certificate programs are also available.

One of the great benefits provided to military students by Kaplan University is the special rates available to active duty service members, veterans, and spouses of active duty service members. These special rates were made available by Kaplan University in order to encourage military members to achieve their potential and to thank them for the years of dedication and sacrifices made for the preservation of our freedoms.

Kaplan University understands the daily challenges faced by service members; that is why the Kaplan University Military Student Support Center was created. The counselors are there to assist military students throughout their entire learning experience. Whether help is needed for the enrollment process, setting up financial aid, or for even academic advice, a counselor at the Kaplan University Military Student Support Center will be there to assist.

Kaplan University has been recently recognized for their dedication to serving military members. Military Advanced Education magazine awarded Kaplan University the Excellence in Online Programming in 2009^[1]. Also, Military Times Edge magazine included Kaplan University as a member of the 50 most popular colleges^[2]. Finally, G.I. Jobs included Kaplan University in its “2010 Guide to Military Friendly Schools^[3].”

Kaplan University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
