Virginia College was established in 1983 in Roanoke, Virginia and, in 1992, began expanding its outreach by opening new campuses. This initiative was a result of the college being purchased by Education Futures, Inc. The first branch campus erected was located in Homewood, Alabama, which is a suburb of Birmingham. Since then, Virginia College has opened 13 additional branches in seven states.
